audition information

all students wishing to major in music or earn a performance scholarship must audition for the faculty prior to entering brevard college.


audition process during the covid-19 pandemic:

  •  fill out an audition application and choose your preferred audition date. a zoom link will be sent to you for the audition.
    • option 1: submit a video recording of your audition repertoire. we will then schedule a zoom interview with you on the audition date.
    • option 2: audition and interview by zoom
      • repertoire requirements:
        • vocalists: prepare two contrasting selections, unless you have already sent a video recording. this piece may be performed without accompaniment or with an accompaniment track.
        • instrumentalists: should prepare two contrasting solos, (single movement or etude), with or without accompaniment and be prepared to play scales.
          • after your performance in the audition, the faculty will have a conversation with you, tell you a little more about our program, and answer any questions you might have.

audition results:

you should receive a letter with your results within two weeks of your audition.


awards for majors are larger than those for non-majors, and non-major awards come with specific ensemble participation requirements. award amounts are determined by the strength of your audition, departmental need, and other factors. fine arts scholarships will replace any other awards made by brevard college, including merit and half-tuition scholarships


new! honors wind and brass quintets:

the brevard college music department is now seeking outstanding players for an honors woodwind quintet and honors brass quintet. these quintets serve as musical ambassadors for brevard college, receive weekly coaching with a faculty member, and perform on and off campus.
